Who knew having kids could change everything? I started this blog to keep my family and friends up to date on all the adventures and mishaps of being a mom.

Top Ten of the Last Month

Ok so I know it has been FOREVER since I last blogged. So... I have made a top ten of the last month to catch you all up.

1. Emersyn started on baby food at the first of February. She loves it. She is huge fan of rice cereal :-)

2. Emersyn had an ear infection at the end of January and 2 weeks later she was sick again with a horrible cold that settled in her chest. Breathing treatments 4 times a day was what the doctor ordered, but Emersyn did not agree. She hates them and screams through the whole process.

3. On the anniversary of the day we found out I was pregnant, Alex proposed to me. I will be Amanda Lombardi by the end of next year.

4. Alex and I are in the process of buying a house. We have been preapproved for our home loan and now just need to find the perfect place. We want to move when our lease is up in June, so we are going to start looking in mid March.

5. Emersyn had her first play date with my friend Aleesa's daughter Brooklyne. Brooklyne is 11 weeks older than Emersyn so Aleesa and I were pregnant together last year. The play dates are going to be a work in progress I think lol.

6. Emersyn has her christening dress and is all ready to be baptized on Feb 27th. I am excited for my beautiful little girl to finally be Catholic.

7. I was able to enjoy my date night with my breastie since getting pregnant. Alex forced me to go out and Jamie and I were able to enjoy dinner at Chili's and a movie, 'No Strings Attached.' The movie was great but spending time just being a girl again was even better.

8. Emersyn is now rolling over and loving it. The second you lay her on her back, she is flipped over and ready. She kicks her legs (in an attempt to move) and is just itching to move. She is working on the sitting up thing and I am sure will have a grasp of it by the end of March.

9. After a few weeks of eating her cereal like a big girl, Emersyn has decided that she is ready to feed herself. To stop her from stealing the spoon that I use to feed her, she often gets her own to play with during dinner time. She doesn't really understand the concept yet and tends to just hit herself in the face with it. In the picture below, she actually hit her mouth.

10. I really didn't have a number 10 but I like even numbered lists so... tonight Emersyn starts on baby food. Peas is on the menu... I will be sure to keep you all updated on how it goes :-)

Need to blog!!!

I haven't had a lot of chances to blog lately and really need to get back in the game. Since the last post Emersyn is now rolling over, has added cereal to her diet and has been through one sickness and is starting a new one today. I have pics of all of this and will work during the next nights to get you all caught up on my little angel. Thank you for being patient.

First Ouchie

Being the very accident-prone person that I am, I knew it was only a matter of time before my little girl started getting ouchies. Tonight while I was giving her a bath, I looked down to see her baby toe bleeding. It looked like she had scratched the skin off the top of it. Now anyone who is around my daughter a lot can tell you that my kid LOVES to kick her feet. She hadn't been wearing socks all night so the likelihood that she would have a sharp toenail that would scratch her were pretty high.... however, I didn't think of that scenario until I saw her bloody little toe. She didn't cry at all and let me wash it off and continued to play and kick her whole bath. While drying her off and putting on her jammies, I put on one of those super tiny band aids you always seem to get in first aid kits (I know know why they make them). Here is a pic of her little foot with the band aid on it.... tiny toes with tinier band aids are just too cute not to share :-)

Daddy/Daughter time

Everyone knows that Alex loves to play on the computer. I mean come on, the boy has TWO monitors so he can watch YouTube videos while playing online games on the other screen. So is it any surprise that Emersyn has become a fan too? She will sit in her Bumbo in his arms and just stare. She watches the action of the game, the Disney cartoons he Googles and even the occasional screen saver. It makes me happy that the two of them have found something they can already enjoy... although I must admit Emersyn is done with it after about 5 or 10 min lol. Here are some pics I took of them enjoying their quality time :-)

Best Part of Wakin' Up...

No, it is not Folger's in my cup, although I do enjoy that a few hours later. One of my absolutely favorite parts of the day is Emersyn’s early morning bottle.  My baby sleeps anywhere from 8-9 hours a night, so she is hungry between 4:30am-5:30am every day. She is still really sleepy still (just needs some food before going back to sleep most days). I know that Alex would help out with this morning ritual if I wanted to sleep later or get more rest but I am just not ready to give it up.

I can hear Emersyn start to stir on the baby monitor about 15 minutes before she actually starts to cry; letting me know that she is officially hungry and wants food now. Since she is still sleepy, when I pick her up she cuddles in close while I make her bottle. Then for the next 20-30 minutes it is just her and I sitting in the dark living room. I only turn the entry light on so that the light doesn’t wake her up. As I feed her, she holds my hand that is holding the bottle. I don’t mind that I am tired or that I left my warm bed to sit on the cold couch. I don’t mind that on work days, I have to turn around and jump in the shower when she goes back to bed. I don’t mind that Alex is sleeping soundly in the bedroom and gets 2 extra hours of sleep a night then me. All I think about is how much I love the angel in my arms and I much I love the morning bottle time.

After she’s done eating (usually sleeping at this point), she gets a quick burp and then I lay her back into her crib and cover her up.  I know that soon these early morning bottles will fade away as she is able to sleep longer, so I am cherishing every morning while I still get the chance.

Goals for 2011

2010 was a whirlwind for me. I found out I was pregnant only 35 days into the new year so any resolutions or goals that I had for year were quickly replaced when I began the daily puke ritual. (Really when you have morning sickness there is nothing else that you can really concentrate on). So, since I DO NOT plan to be pregnant in 2011, I am making some goals for this year.

1. I want to continue to work on my relationship with Alex. He is the perfect match for me. Yes we do fight but I want to continue to work on our relationship and making him feel like he is my true love at all times.
2. I want to continue to spend as much time as I can with my beautiful baby girl. She is growing up so fast and I want to make sure I cherish every milestone and moment. She can be one frustrating little girl at times which leads me to my next resolution...
3. I want to learn more patience. With Emersyn, with Alex, with my co-workers, with my employees, with strangers.... overall more patience!
4. I want to lose the last of the baby weight. I haven't started working out yet, so my goal is to begin to workout and lose the last 10 pounds of baby (and maybe even a little more :-) )
5. I want to go on some great family vacations. In May, my mom, Emersyn and I are going back to the Midwest to see family and in November Alex, Emersyn, my mom, my aunt, hopefully Jamie and I are going to Disneyland for E's first trip to the magic kingdom. I would love to sneak in a weekend away for Alex and I for his birthday too :-)
6. I want to make sure that Alex and I get friend time too with each of us getting one night a month to go out with our friends while the other parent stays with Em.
7. I would like to try to write a book. Yes, lofty goal I know. I have always loved writing and have been playing around with an idea for a book, we will see if I can find the time. This is my last goal in case it doesn't really happen.

2010 was a fantastic year and I am looking forward to all the fun, excitement and surprises that 2011 brings.

Little Miss Chatterbox

Emersyn is talking a ton now and has started to squeal the first part of every "sentence" which always makes me laugh and makes her happy. For Christmas, Emersyn got Alex a camcorder so that he can record her growing up. (Don't ask where a 3 month old got the money for a camcorder- the girl has connections and a personal shopper already). Here is Emersyn talking on Christmas to Alex and I at my mom's house.
